Representatives of Okada riders from all the wards in Kaduna metropolis for the second time within a week, converged on Hayin Danbushiya, to protest restriction of their operations as well as intimidation and harassment from Keke NAPEP Operators and government agencies.

The operators in their hundreds, also expressed displeasure with the high fines imposed on them by the Kaduna State Transport, Environmental Law Enforcement Agency (KASTELEA).
Granting an interview at the site of the protest, Chairman of Kaduna State Okada Riders Association, Jamilu Usman appealed to Governor Nasir el-Rufai to come to their aid.
He said that they are being harassed by many, who take advantage of their conditions.
“We are appealing to the governor to come to our aid. KASTELEA and others are embarrassing our members. Keke NAPEP operators at will arrest our members and seize their motor cycles.
“We are law abiding and would be willing to cooperate with the government. The governor should permit us to operate and we would contribute to making Kaduna great again by promptly paying taxes,” he added.
Usman said that they and their family members are facing hardship and in view of the fact that their are no other jobs, survive by transporting passengers.
“There are some routes that commercial vehicles or Keke NAPEP cannot reach, we are the only ones that go there, and that in another way contributes to the society,” he added.
