National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers NANPF has commended the Kano State Governor, Abdullah Umar Ganduje over the donation of three million (N3m) Naira to the family of late Chinedu Udoji in Kano on Saturday 7th April 2018.
The players’ Union in a statement made available also urged Kano State Governor and the government to extend the gesture to the children he left behind by giving them scholarships.
The governor had promised to take care of the family he left behind and has fulfilled his promise, the players union appreciates.
NANPF urged other state governments to borrow a leaf from Kano state government by coming to the aid of the families players left behind when they died while still playing for the clubs under the ownership of the state.
It would be recalled that Chinedu Udoji, former player of Enyimba and Kano Pillars died in a fatal accident when he was returning from his former team’s (Enyimba) hotel after a 1-1 draw against Kano Pillars.
Udoji was adjudged the man of the match in a tension soaked game of superiority that involved arguably the best two teams in Nigeria.
