Kaduna State would be having advantage in the volleyball event of the 2018 National Youth Games as a result of the North West Coaches Course which ended in Kaduna on Daturday.
Kaduna State Commissioner of Youth Sports and Culture, Honourable Daniel Danauta expressed this while declaring the coaches course closed at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.
“What we are expecting from you is results. The next NYG is U-15, let’s see which coach will produce the players for us,” he said.
Represented by the Director of Sports Kaduna State, Alhaji Yakubu Ibrahim said thanked God for making the course successful.
He said that if not because of this course, most of the coaches may not have opportunity to meet the instructor.
“We are happy we have met him, interacted with him and learnt from him,” he said.
He charged the coaches as to take advantage of what they have learnt to transform volleyball at the grassroots.
“Let us not allow the knowledge we tapped from the resource person to go in vain. When teaching your players, don’t teach them what is not true. They see you as someone who knows everything so if you forget, go back to your handouts and check so that you pass out right information.
“You as a coach should discipline your players, show them leadership by example. Before your players arrive the courts, you should make sure that everything is set,” he said.
He  thanked the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) President for bringing this workshop to Kaduna.
High point of the closing ceremony was the presentation of certificates to participants of the course.
