Women have no excuse not to be successful in various fields of endeavour, in view of the huge potentials in them.
CEO of UMMHI Homes, Hajia Umma Adamu Sani expressed this when an award of recognition was bestowed on her for the development of 100 Housing units of two and three bedrooms in the new millennium city, Kaduna.
“There is no excuse to say that you are a woman, so you cannot be successful. There is even a saying that behind every successful man, there is a woman.
“We should challenge the men that when your wife is doing good is to be proud of your wife. Mine is proud of me,” she said.
Giving a brief background of how it all started for her,  said that she was motivated to work hard at an early age.
” I lost my dad at a young age when I was just a year old. I am from a family of 11, I am the youngest of the family. I married early at the age of 17, after my secondary school and then I had a supportive husband who helped me to achieve success,” she said.
She explained that even though she is an Agricultural Engineer by training, she ventured into building development.
“I don’t believe there is one way to do things. If you try from this angle, if it doesn’t work out, don’t give up. There was a time I almost quit the estate development, but I said to myself, if I quit, why did I even start in the first place. When the devilish telling you to quit, the other spirit to tell you to strive on.
“Whatever you are doing, you should know before you start that there are challenges. I am one of the developers, the only female developer, I had to fight on. Though I get support from the male supporters, I had to put in more efforts.
“So now I had to do it, not just for the government or myself or family, but for the Women Connect. A lot of people ate looking for awards like this, but I got it so I have to work harder so that more awards can come.
“I don’t believe in self pity I pursue my dreams with all I have,” she said.
Umma advised women to believe in themselves and do whatever they do passionately.
” Put in more efforts, put your time and then with prayers, that’s where I am today,” she advised.
She commended Governor Nasir el-Rufai for giving people opportunities to be innovative and invest in the state.
“He doesn’t discriminate in encouraging people be it male or female, if you are good, he ensures you get a chance,” she sdded
She appreciated Women Connect Initiative for  been recognizing her, adding that it would spur her to do more.
Earlier in her remarks, the President of Women Connect Initiative, Hajia Murjanatu Suleiman Shika said that the group is always at the fore front of anything that promotes women.
“She is the only female property developer in Kaduna State and we are recognizing her for that.
“We want to see woman stand on their own and take care of their homes. Lack of education or being empowered has created lits of negativity for women,” she said.
