The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Mechanised Division Nigerian Army Major General Mohammed Mohammed has commended toops for promoting cultural harmony among the divergent cultural groups in Nigeria even as the excellently play their constitutional duty of protecting the territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
General Mohammed gave the commendation during the West African Social Activities (WASA) In Basawa Cantonment where he delivered his speech as the Special Guest of Honour. He added that the brilliant display by various cultural troupes was an evident that men of the Nigerian Army have not broken link with their cultural background.
While congratulating the troops for a successful training period for the year 2017,the special Guest of Honour charged them to continue to remain discipline and dedicated to the service of our dear Country. He further warned all to remain apolitical as the Nigerian Army was making stringent effort to consolidate on the achievements recorded in all its activities geared toward ensuring peace and stability across the County.
He urged officers and men to remain proactive in the discharge of thir constitutional responsilities and also redouble effort towards achieving greatness in the year 2018. General Mohammed finally congratulated the Commandants othe Nigerian Army School of Military Police,NigerianArmy School of Legal Services as well as the Commanding Officer 11 Field Engineers Regiment for organizing a befitting WASA to enable troops to keep to tune with their cultural heritage.
In his opening remarks ,the Commandant Nigerian Army School of Military Police Brigadier General OL Olayinka expressed his gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai for his untiring supports to the formations and unit in Basawa cantonment while appreciating the special Guest of Honour for making it to the occasion adding that his presence has added colour to the event.
He also assured the Special Guest of their collective resolve in Basawa Cantonment to implement the 2018 Chief of Army Staff Training directives in an effort to key in to his vision which is to have a professionally responsive Nigerian Army in the discharge of its constitutional role.Highlights of the event include various cultural display,tug of war competition and award presentation to the deserving soldiers.
