A youth activist in Plateau State, Hon Emmanuel Macham JP has accused the Plateau State Government of being afraid to conduct local government election for fear of failure.
He expressed this while interacting with our correspondent.
According to him, “The excuses given for the earlier cancellation were never the main reasons, it is clear they are confused, the grassroot is too hot, if I were in there shoes I will advice them to conduct and try their luck,” he said.
According to Macham, Plateau State was never among the state’s APC could have won election in 2015, it was an accidental discharge by members of the rulling party then, which led to this logjam.
“APC have contaminated our growing democracy with policies of the 14th century. They have shown incapability in handling affairs of the state. Governance is not noise making or propaganda.
“For the past three years, the APC-led state government has not initiated a project in the state, all the projects showcased in their achievements were projects at 90% completion by the Jonah Jang-led government, ” he pointed out.
He explained that the local government election which would have given the grassroots leadership at the local level to the common man has been neglected.
“What is wrong if the local government polls are conducted and PDP wins all and dividends of democracy is seen at the grassroot? ” He queried.
He said APC will surely lose the 2019 election in the State.
“We have a lot challenges facing the state, ranging from security, economic and lack of infrastructural development. Lands belonging to natives have been seized and the government has no clue of handling the situation, it is quite sad, ” he submitted.
