The Mani Robson Foundation has awarded scholarship to over thirty secondary school children of Odukpani origin in Cross River State.

The beneficiaries which were drawn from about 16 different secondary schools in Odukpani LGA of Cross River State, according to the Foundation were elected based on merit.

In his address, Chairman of the foundation, Mr. Emmanuel  Robson said “you have this opportunity to be here because you have excel above your equals in your respective schools. And for me I believe that excellence should be rewarded”

“Mani Robson Foundation will continue to support young people in their quest for excellence. Some of you who are recipients of this award today will eventually become recipients of our award to study various courses in the University. The only criteria will be your persistence, consistency and excellence in your academic endeavour”

Mr. Robson enjoined the students to shun cultism and all other social vices that may derail them from the path of honour, while promising that some of  them who will do well in their final exams may again become beneficiaries of the foundation’s tertiary education scholarship fund.

” I want to encourage you, that whatever you have done that has brought you here if you keep doing it, will bring you to the front role. We will be monitoring your progress from today to higher education and we will take steps through interventions like this to provide the support you need. The good things of life are yours for the taking but you just need to be focused and prepared for it”

He promised to replicate the same gesture in all other 18 LGAs across the state.

Earlier, Chairman of the scholarship fund, Prince Samuel Ikpeme said the students were selected based on merit and performance in their respective school. He expressed thanks to Mr. Robson for such gesture while assuring that the gesture will not only stop with schools in Odukpani but will be spread across the entire 18 LGAs in the state.

Expressing their delight some of the students who spoke with our reporter expressed joy over the award, noting that such gesture will go along way to assist them pay their WAEC  fee as the examination approaches.
