The Family Health Advocates in Nigeria Initiative (FHANI) has hailed the Kaduna State Government, led by Governor Nasir el-Rufai for its commitment at ensuring that women do not spend their money in embarking on family planning.
Acting Secretary of FHANI, Iliya Kure gave the commendation, while interacting with Health-4-All Media Initiatives (HAMI), on Friday in Kaduna.
He said that commodities for family planning have been distributed across the state and was concluded last Friday.
Kure explained that FHANI was in the team that monitored the distribution, representing CSOs.
“Kudos to Kaduna Govt for making commodities available to women. This eliminates out of picket expenses for women who want Family Planning. The N97.9m budgeted was used to procure the items..
“That’s to say every activity regarding budgetary allocation for family planning for 2018 concluded.
“Last month we issued a statement commending the government for increase in budget. From proposal submitted to House of Assembly, it is N147.6m,” he said.
FHANI Secrerary said that the group is also requesting that the Assembly ensures that the budget lines do not suffer.
“The procurement line is N120m, while the FP Programme, has an allocation of N27.6m,” he said.
He however, said that, there is another problem on ground.
“Consumables are on ground, but there is stock out of commodities in Nigeria.
“We are calling on the government of Nigeria to act fast in procuring the commodities and act fast in distributing same to users,” he concluded.
