Plateau State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Honourable Dayyabu Yusuf Garga has described the just concluded local government elections in the state as a true reflection of the people will and franchise exercised.
The commissioner made the remarks in Jos after the elected local government Chairmen were sworn in by the state Executive Governor, Simon Lalong.
“His Excellency’s commitment to democratic ideals has manifested in the free and fair local government elections in State, regardless of the opposition party exaggeration on the outcome the election, it had recorded tremendous success.”
With no recorded case of intimidation or harassment is a testimony of the successes at the polls, he added.
Honourable Garga said those raising false alarms in a bid to draw electorates sympathy to their party only succeeded in doing disservice to their fatherland, ” I therefore implore my dearest plateau State citizens not to succumbed to this unhealthy obsession to earned advantage and sympathy.”
“This government is committed to upholding democratic principles which provide our people with freedom to exercise their franchises and elect their representatives without interference.”
The Plateau State local government Commissioner then, implored the newly elected chairmen in the state to be focus and justify the confidence reposed on them.
“You’re expected to be proactive and prioritize the improvement of well-being of your respective communities according to your peculiarities so that our people will benefit from the dividends of democratic governance provided by the state and federal government.”
The Commissioner for Local Government implored elected Chairmen to prioritize improvement of people well-being
