A coalition of Civil Society Network in Zamfara State has described as right decision, the refusal of President Muhammadu Buhari to present All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates at his rally in Gusau, Zamfara State capital.
Chairman of the Coalition, Malam Anas Anka who made the commendation in a press statement, said, the action of the President and APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole at the rally demonstrates high sense of maturity in handling crisis.
The coalition also commended the President for insisting that, INEC shall be allowed to handle the issue legitimately in line with the laid down rules and regulations.
The statement however described the recent outburst of Governor Yari on disrupting conduct of election as uncalled for and undemocratic.
According to the statement, Governor’s resolved to disrupt election was tantamount to cause chaos in the state and challenge to national security.
The coalition therefore, urged security agencies to take necessary measure against such utterances.
The coalition cautioned Governor Yari to be mindful of his status as number one citizen of the state and desist from using derogatory remarks that are capable of heating the state polity.
They added “if Governor Yari are de-satisfied with the position of the INEC he should approach the Court of Appeal and indeed Supreme Court to seek for redress just like the way Rivers issue is resolved amicably at the Supreme Court”.
