By KATO P. LADAN, Kaduna
Days to the commencement of the 2019 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for the redeployment of the Kaduna State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) over what it describe as partisanship and taking of sides with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The allegations were expresser at a media briefing anchored by the Kaduna PDP Campaign Organization Deputy Director General, Comrade Danjma Bello Sarki, in a swift reaction to the arrest of its spokesman, Mr. Ben Bako by the DSS on Saturday.
“The DSS has become compromised and partisan in Kaduna State and we say NO to such development.
“We believe that Kaduna State Director of the DSS, Ahmadu Idris will not be neutral in the 2019 general elections and we call for his immediate redeployment,” Sarki said.
Speaking further, he made a special appeal to the international community to take pay keen attention to the conduct of the polls in Kaduna State.
” We call on both Local and International Election Observers to take special interest in Kaduna state elections,” he said.
Speaking further, the Deputy Director General said that the world today is still outraged by the ‘murderous threats’ of Governor Nasir el-Rufai to International Election Observers.
“When he vowed that should any of them intervene contrary to the designs and expectation of the APC during and after elections, they would return home in body bags,” he stressed.
Sarki said that it was disappointing that the Presidency backed such a comment.
“Curiously, the Presidency came out in full support of that crude, barbaric bravado which carries a costly diplomatic price,” he said.
He explained that from his call for violent assault to the three Senators in Kaduna State; his denigrating reference to the Pope over his rejection by the electorates in Kaduna State and his latest threat, el-Rufai remains the greatest albatross to local and International peace in Nigeria today, not Mr. Ben Bako of the PDP.
In the text of the statement titled, ‘TEXT OF A PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE DEPUTY DIRECTOR GENERAL (DDG) KADUNA STATE PDP CAMPAIGN ORGANISATION, COMRADE DANJUMA BELLO SARKI ON THE ARREST OF MR. BEN BAKO AND THE PLANNED ARREST/INTIMIDATION OF THE PDP LEADERS IN KADUNA STATE AHEAD OF THE GENERAL POLLS ON 10TH FEBRUARY, 2019’ he pointed out that the PDP in Kaduna State will not be drawn into any violent conflict no matter the provocation.
“Let us reiterate for the records: The PDP in Kaduna state is determined and totally committed to a violent free polls,” Sarki noted.
He therefore, appealed to the supporters of the party to remain law abiding, adding that every lawful avenue to ensure his speedy release would be exploited.
“No member or supporter of the PDP must be involved in breaking the law. In the same manner, the PDP is solid serious about ensuring that every vote cast in the state counts. We are calling on our members and supporters to ensure that they come out in large numbers and vote,” he said.
PDP further charged them to ensure their votes count, vowing that no amount of bkackmail will shut them down.
“They must ensure that their votes are counted, recorded and securely moved to the next collation centre. On this, we are ready to use every legal means to protect our franchise. No amount of intimidation, threat, blackmail and illegal use of state force will deter us from this aspect,” he warned.
