The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Zamfara State chapter has threatened to petition Governor Abdul-Aziz Yari to the International Criminal Court (ICC), Hague and other Security agencies, if he continue to suggest disruption of the forthcoming election.
Addressing press conference in Gusau, Zamfara State capital, NBA chairman, Bello Galadi, said the Governor Yari’s outburst to disrupt election,. If his party, APC was excluded was uncalled for and condemnable.
The NBA noted that, Governor Yari at different for a promised to disrupt election, should in case his party was excluded by INEC to partake in the election.
“As ambassadors of rule of law, we implore, the executive Governor to be calm and humble in dealing with the issue and invoke the path of rule of law, rather than self help”, he added.
Galadi also cautioned the Governor against unnecessary and unjustifiable spending of public funds in the pursuit of his personal political enterprise at the expense of the down trodden.
The NBA also expressed concern over the rampant cases of desecration of the holy Qur’anic in the state capital.
” We hereby condemned the act and urged government and security agencies to wake up and arrest the ugly act”, he added.
The NBA therefore, called on the public to support security agents to fish out people engaged in the desecration of the holy Qur’an with a view to arraign them before the court of law. ENDs
