*says Nigeria’s unity crucial

The unity of Nigeria is non negotiable and must be consolidated upon through the composition of the leadership of the National Assembly.
Zonal Youth Leader, APC, Honourable Abubakar Sadik Sa’adu Fakai gave the advice in an interview with newsmen on the sidelines of the Office of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Zonal Women/Youth Leader North West Town Hall Meeting to appreciate the contributions of youth, women and all stakeholders of the North West Zone towards the success of the 2019 general elections at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Hall, Murtala Square, Kaduna on Sunday April 14, 2019.
He warned that no zone of the country should be excluded from the composition not NASS leadership when the 9th NASS convenes in June.
“They should also ensure all the zones are represented in their leadership so that all parts of the country are carried along,” he stressed.
He further appealed to the Senators and members elect to ensure they select credible leaders that can work with the executive in moving the country forward.
“I am calling on leadership of NASS and members elect to be careful in terms of leadership and those they choose to lead them,” he added.
Speaking further, he called on the Federal Government-led by President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that women and youth are well represented in his appointments.
“We are calling on the Federal Government to carry youth and women along, seeing that they contributed a lot to their success.
“We want the govt that has been doing much should also do more by adding more youth and women in decision making,” he advised.
In terms of expectations from the new tenure of President Buhari, he said more needs to be done in the area if security.
“We want the president to do more in the area of security. We also encourage youth to always give information to government. In terms of developmental projects, we also want the government to do more,” he said.
He stressed that those who are appointed, should be able to carry everyone along.
“We appeal that with the kind of leadership of those coming in, they should bear that in mind. They should not let the masses lose confidence.
“They should put real politicians connected to the grassroots in positions, so that they are carried along.
“The government should also move faster in terms of appointment of ministers and heads of departments and agencies that will deliver results,” he advised.
On successes recorded in the tenure that is ending, he listed diversification of the economy as a huge gain.
“The govt has done much in the last regime, N-Power, farming etc are some good examples,” he said.
He commended the youth and women from the North West for supporting APC.
“I commend the efforts made especially from my zone, we have done very well, based on contributions especially from women and youth,” he stated.
