A non negotiable 35 per cent of appointments is being demanded by women as the President Muhammad Buhari gets set to begin a fresh mandate of four years in office in May.

The demand was made by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Leader North West Zone, Hajiya Yahanasu Buba Ahmad when fielding questions from newsmen on Sunday in Kaduna, on the sidelines of the Office of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Zonal Women/Youth Leader North West Town Hall Meeting to appreciate the contributions of youth, women and all stakeholders of the North West Zone towards the success of the 2019 general elections at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Hall, Murtala Square, Kaduna on Sunday April 14, 2019.

Zonal Women Leader APC, said that Aisha Buhari promised them at a meeting in Lagos that female politicians will benefit more in terms of appointments.

“We are appealing to her that we get at least 35% appointment for Ministers and boards as she promised us at a meeting held in Lagos recently,” she said.

Hajiya Buba Ahmed stressed that the government does not have to restrict its search for credible female candidates to graduates alone, as several women with school certificate are seasoned politicians and can deliver if given a chance.

“It doesn’t have to be graduates, even school certificate holders could be appointed,” she said.

She said she was proud that their zone produced the highest number of votes for President Muhammadu Buhari, adding that women and youth produced the highest number of votes.

“We gave Buhari the highest number of votes in the North West Zone and deserve to appreciated,” she stressed.
