Delta Chief Judge Sets 206 Prisoners Free In Delta

As part of measures to decongest the Nigerian Prisons, the Delta State Chief Judge, Justice Marshal Mukoro has has released a total of two hundred and six prison inmates across the state.


Justice Mukoro disclosed this in a remark during his Prison visit in Warri on Tuesday.


The CJ said two thousand, six hundred and thirteen(2,613) cases were reviewed. 


He explained that of the numbers, eighteen(18) were granted bail, two hundred and six were released to their freedom”.


Justice Mukoro also said in Warri, eight hundred and seventy five inmates (warrant) was also reviewed adding that,”7 granted bail and 56 released.”


Justice Mukoro said the ages of those released ranges  between seventeen (17) and twenty five( 25) years.


He said, “This is very, very worrisome. It shows family values are broken. It shows many parents are not responsible.”


Justice Mukoro urged parents take proper care and train their children very well.


Justice Mukoro stressed that many adults are not exhibiting good examples to be copied by youths.


He also enjoined faith based organizations as well as political leaders to ensure that youths are properly nurtured.


Justice Mukoro however warned that if the youths are not properly nurtured,”We are in great danger. “
