Attempts made at maligning the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has been described as baseless and wasted efforts.
Arewa Youth Assembly expressed this in a statement signed by its Speaker, Mohammed Salihu Danlami, made available on Tuesday May 14, 2019.
“This attempt to malign, insult and denigrate the office of NFF President and drag him into disrepute with a view to aiding some masquerades somewhere to score cheap points is a bad job,” it said.
They said that their curiosity had been ignited by reports on media against the person of Amaju Pinnick for gross misconduct and abuse of his status about $8.4m FIFA’s grant and N4bn moved out of NFF account without the consent of the football federation.
“To be candid, we don’t support corruption, any form of embezzlement of public fund and any form of disorder. In spite of the collective resolve to battle corruption, every accused person is innocent before the law until proven otherwise. Amaju should be treated with the same guiding principle.
“For avoidance of doubt which is a collection of slanderous, malicious, mind boggling rumours and a figment of the imagination of cluster of individuals who have refused to come out of mediocrity and poverty of the mind which has befallen them.
“These individuals who went round and round in a rigmarole style peddling all manners of unfounded rumours, we like to take the matter from the point view of the fact that they foolishly sold out their pay masters when they averred inter alia to pull the hard earned name of Amaju down,” it explained.
The group said that it is a pity that a few disgruntled people in this jet age when information is let out at the speed of lightening will sit in the comfort of their home to concoct and fabricate bare faced lies just to discredit a man who has worked tirelessly and is still working in the interest of the country.
“Arewa Youth Assembly is indeed gladdened that this same people and their sponsors of the blackmail, hallucinatory fantasies, scurrilous publication well published and circulated in various newspapers, personal vendetta and cacophony of discordant notes in the name of corruption will not stand.
“No amount of distraction by the incessant accusation of tribalism can deter Amaju Pinnick from performing his constitutional role as the current serving NFF president.
“He has exhibited competence and character, a man who has placed Nigeria on the world map of sport development.
“Recognizing the importance of his leadership most countries looks at present course of NFF as a model for modern governance in sport in their various countries. It is pitiable the people who have never held positions of responsibility cast aspersions on leaders addressing them in all kinds of derogatory terms,” it stated.
They said that Amaju Pinnick’s uncommon commitments mark him out as a purposeful leader. A visionary man reckoned with by all and various sport lover.
“Amaju pinnick’s leadership has restored confidence, love and hope in the sport industry. The discipline, orientation, development, unity, closeness, love, togetherness and lots more that Pinnick initiated, built and put in place are what they want to banish. And the best way to succeed is to follow the footsteps of an achiever.
“Building a team/organization requires leaders to be knowledgeable as well as liberal, accommodating and inspiring. They should understand the nature of productive teamwork and feel a passion for creating it with love, empathy, hope, prayer, goodwill and consultation. But showing envy, hatred, enmity and segregation are not the way out and the forward.
“Let’s revisit the pages of our mind, the accolades are coming in torrents and a lot of Nigerians were celebrating and leather game qualification for Russia 2018. When a number of people thought impossible now looks plausible, Nigeria’s name will appear among the best football playing countries of the globe.
“Expectedly politicians, community leaders, sport buffs, football administrators and of course those at the commanding heights of governance at various level are falling over themselves to salute and identify with Amaju Pinnick as vice president CAF and match commissioner for third place in the World Cup.
“It is most unfortunate when so people ended up embarrassing themselves in an attempt to disparage the name and reputation of Amaju to satisfy the whims and caprices of their pay masters,” they observed.
Areas Youth Assembly said that to dignify the tissues of lies, deliberate falsehood and nondescript narratives dished out by those behind these issues, but for the interest of the same readers whose sensibilities may have been ruffled by that obvious waste of resources in the form of a paid advertorial.
“(a) Amaju Pinnick is not a signatory or in control of NFF account.
(b) The role are exclusively reserved and performed by Directors and personnel appointed by FGN from the offices of the Accountant-General of the Federation and Auditor-General of the Federation.
(c) NFF under Pinnick has since 2014, kept true financial records of NFF funds as audited by its external auditors PwC and published in the newspaper,” they pointed out.
The group said that after their studied decision, they found these report of Chief Okoi Obono-Obla to be largely untrue, some outright fabrication of falsehood intended to provoke greater depth of ill feelings and promote crisis in NFF. These tantrums and diatribe against pinnick’s rising leadership profile are the handiwork of known enemies of NFF.
