As part of its grand plan of ensuring that the advocacy of the five thematic areas of focus of the Kaduna Youth Agenda (KYA) are achieved, the One Project Afrika Reach Out Foundation (OPA) in collaboration with key partners, National Democratic Institute (NDI), USAID, UKaid and others, has inaugurated a Media Reporters Cohort.
The inauguration of the cohort was held on Friday May 17, 2019 in Kaduna, with members drawn from mainstream and new media.
At the inauguration, Executive Director of OPA, Zigwai Ayuba said that the inauguration was targeted at ensuring responsibility of all parties in implementation of the campaign.
KYA will also issue official volunteer engagement letters to members,” she said.
Speaking earlier during a presentation titled overview of Kaduna Youth Agenda (KYA) Campaign, she said that, “These key thematic areas are what we look to working with till 2020.
“It is a high policy advocacy to ensure the key areas yield change and are made possible. If they have the political will, all will be made possible.
“If government can fill key areas like peace building, agriculture, education, job creation and health, the youth will have better living standards,” she stressed.
Speaking further, she said that OPA is partnering with NDI, USAID, UKaid and others in strengthening democracy.
“We have done the ” Vote Not Fight” before the 2019 elections and we are glad it was successful.
“That politicians are beginning to grow and know it is better to go to court than engage youth to do violence.,” goes a long way to show it was successful, ” she said.
She explained that the Kaduna Youth Agenda was developed during the “Vote Not Fight” and is focused on five thematic key areas.
“If we have improvement in these areas, we will have system that is working,” she assured.
