National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has urged journalists to adhere strictly to the ethics of the profession while covering hajj activities and any other issues in the country.
The Chairman of the Commission, Barrister Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad made the call during the inaugural/induction ceremony of the members of the Media Team held in Abuja.
He lamented some of his experiences during hajj periods were some unprofessional journalists exhibited their ignorance for not balancing their reports.
Barrister Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad assured journalists particularly those covering hajj activities of twenty nineteen that the management of the commission would always be available to respond to issues.
The Chairman of the Commission explained that the commission was committed to ensure best hajj to the pilgrims across the country.
In his presentation, Director General Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Dr. Mansur Liman called on journalists on the National Media Team of the for this year’s Hajj to be professional during the assignment.
Also speakin, the Acting Managing Director of News Agency, Alhaji Idris Abdullah advised journalists to accord priority to national interest and the ethics of the profession.
He also commended NAHCON for its commitments to ensure that pilgrims have satisfaction of their money.
During the event, Media Executive were advised that only practising journalists are nominated just like the medical team to ensure professional reportage.
