*127 participants receive certificates at colourful closing ceremony

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) 3-day seminar for poultry farming for wives of soldiers in collaboration with Vetco Livestock Solutions has ended with 127 participants at the Major General J.M, Garba Halll.
Speaking as the Special Guest of honour at the offivial closing ceremong on Wednesday June 19, 2019, wife of the NDA Commandant, Major General Adeniyi Oyebde and President Nigeria Defence Academy Officers Wives Association, Florence Oyebade, told the women that what they have learnt, they have acquired license for financial independence.
“Whatever is our in our hands, you should hold it well because of your children, not because of your husband. Our husband’s are public husbands. Expand your business, God will help you,” she said.
She expressed gratitude to God for a successful seminar.
“I want to give God Almighty thanks for the success of the programme.”
She also expressed gratitude to the facilitators and the NDA Commandant.
“I want to thank the facilitators, they have done well and put food on your tables. I want to say thank you to my wonderful husband who made this possible. General Oyebade us behind you all,” she assured.
One of the participants, Mrs. Winnie Tar appreciated the leadership of the NDA for sponsoring the seminar, while assuring that they would put to use what the received, judiciously.
“We have never had it this beautiful. We promise that what we learnt will not be a waste. Within the last three days we have learnt so much so we can even serve as consultants.
“Even after our husbands have retired, we will become consultants in this field. We promise that in the next five years, we will keep waxing stronger,” she assured.
Also testifying, Mrs. Ashu Ibrahim said that she is dreaming big already as a result of knowledge acquired.
” I am imagining myself in a big poultry. We have learnt a lot within the last three days. We say thank you to the commandment,” she said.
High point of the closing ceremony was presentation of certificates to the participants of the seminar.
In an interview with newsmen, Chief Operations Officer, Vetco Livestock Solutions, Dr. Usman Umar said that the participants have earned certificate of proficiency on poultry farming.
“Nothing can lift mass number of people out of poverty like agriculture. They have been empowered to lift families out of poverty.
“They intend to construct poultry for the women in the barracks. We are looking beyond the ready market, they will have an edge to make them take over markets outside. We will ensure minimal uses of microbals or drugs, if not total elimination, to ensure the best quality poultry products are produced by them,” he assured.
