*council writes National Secretariat

Security within the premises of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Secretariat has been beefed up after hoodlums gained access and made a away with several valuables.
It was gathered that the unfortunate incident took place in the wee hours of Sunday, with items so far discovered to be stolen including State-of-the-art ate television sets and laptop.
Though details remained sketchy as at the time of filing thus report, the council has written to formally inform the NUJ national Secretariat of the development.
In the letter signed by the council’s secretary, Comrade John Femi Adi, it was revealed that the incidence has been reported to the police and investigations were ongoing.
“We write to inform you the NUJ Chalet and Chairman’s office was burgled on Sunday, July 16, 2019.
“The thieves carted away three television sets and a laptop .
“The sad event was immediately reported to Police and we gathered investigation ongoing the matter,” it contained.
Earlier in an internal memo also signed by the secretary, the council informed members of the council that steps were being taken to forestall further occurrences.
“It is most unfortunate that at a difficult period such this ,some criminal elements burgled our Chalet and Chairman’s office. They carted away three Televisions ; two the Chalet and one from the Chairman’s office .
“We immediately reported the incident to the Police yesterday and they have commenced investigation into the matter.
“On our side, we are gathering preliminary information and sniffing grounds for either traces of insider’s links or any concrete evidence that could help the police track down the criminals .
“However, we want to thank all members for their concerns and views on the matter “We have noted all suggestion and observations . Please be informed ,we are already working on precautionary measures against such incidents and will brief you at the Congress as usual,” the memo said.
Meanwhile, it was observed that security at the secretariat has been beefed up as stern looking uniformed private security personnel were sighted at the premises during visit on Wednesday.
