*says governor has never dipped fingers into LG funds

Providing adequate security for lives and property of residents of Igabi Local Government Area is top most on the priority of its executive.
Chairman of Igabi LGA, Hon Jabir Khamis Rigasa gave the assurance when Afaka General Assembly under the leadership of Hon Auwal S. Mohammed visited him at the headquarters of Igabi Local Government Area on Thursday at Turunku.
The LG Boss assured that security of lives and property tops his priority.
“Issue of security is the local government’s number one priority. We will do anything possible to provide security of lives and properties of our people and the local government is ever ready to bring end to security challenges inline with Malam Nasiru el-Rufai’s plan.
While responding, the Executive Chairman thanked the people of Afaka Ward for the visit which he described as historic.
He also assured the people of Afaka that in Kaduna State, Malam Nasir el-Rufai even before the local government autonomy never touched the local government funds.
“But we have our challenges as on education alone, we pay teachers salaries with over N21 million,” he said, while adding that despite the challenges they will recruit security personnel for all the primary schools and hospitals within the local government area.
“The rest of the projects you tendered will depend on the allocation we receive from the federation,” he added.
On the issue of schools furniture, he assured that within the next 60 days, they will provide schools within the Local government with enough desks.
“On salaries and areas alone this month, we are going to pay over N100 million, but we are there following up in the federation to have more funds in order to execute more gigantic projects for our people.
“We will make sure all the upgraded PHCs in the local government will be working 24hrs.
“On road projects you requested, to be sincere, our target is to finish what we have started in the ward that is road that is linking Afaka Community and Kaduna North that passed through Eye Centre and Mahuta. The quality of that road even if it will be done by the state, it must applauded, but we are here doing it as local government.
“In the next three months, we will construct and launch four modern abattoirs within Igabi Local Government Area and Afaka Ward will be the first to benefit.
Commenting on the issue of cemetery, the Chairman promised to build borehole with his personal money in Afaka Cemetery by next week, but assured that fencing the cemetery will be taken care of by the local government council.
He added that additional cemeteries will be added to some parts of Afaka as requested.The visit comprised of Village heads of Afaka Ward, leadership of various organizations within the community, religious leaders, elders, and host of others.
The visit was to straighten the relationship between the people of the community and the government, as well as tender the community’s request to the executive chairman.Hon. Jabir also said he would be glad to fulfill all the wishes they tendered before him.
