FCMB have emerged champions of the 9th edition of the Kaduna Corporate League 2017 with their 2-1 win over hard fighting GTBank over the weekend in a tension soaked match that saw a heavy down pour during the presentation of gift and trophies.
FCMB went ahead in the 32nd minute through Danlami Ibrahim, while GTBank equalised through Ahmad Mohammed in the 53rd minute of the game with a diving header.
Shaibu Mohammed got the winner for FCMB five minutes to the end of the game with a blinder from 25 yards.
All efforts by GTBANK to equalise were thwarted by the tournament’s eventual Best Goalkeeper, Felix Bassey. FCMB last year lost to Fidelity Bank in the final.
In the third place match, UBA defeated Eco Bank 5-2 on penalties to place third for for the third year in a row.
The best goalkeeper award went to Felix Bassey of FCMB, Best Defender Award was won by Tajudeen Yusuf of Eco Bank, Daniel Joseph of GTbank picked the best midfielder award, with Peter Daniel of UBA picking the Highest Goal Scorer award with four goals.
The most valuable player award went to the captain of FCMB Muazu Mohammed.
The cordinator of the competion, Vincent Akinbami, promised a more improved tournament and atmosphere in the 2018 edition.
Skye Bank won the first edition, Unity Bank won the first trophy for keeps, while Fidelity Bank won the second trophy for keeps last year.
