Nigeria officially registered their Men’s team on Wednesday to participate in the upcoming Men’s African Nations championship due to be organised in Egypt, October 22 to 29, 2017.
Nigeria is now the team No 17 to confirm participation in the event, which acts also as a qualifier for the 2018 FIVB World Championship. Nigeria already qualified before to the final phase after they came second in Zone 3 qualifiers held in Niamey, Niger last July as they finished second after the winner of the 4 Nation tournament Ghana.
The teams qualified through the zonal qualifiers are Morocco, Cape Verde, Ghana, Nigeria, Niger, Congo RD, Congo Brazzaville, Kenya, Rwanda and Botswana. Zambia, Chad, Libya owned wild cards, while Tunisia, Cameroon and Algeria confirm their tickets as top ranked teams in the FIVB ranking. Egypt as hosts completed the finals line up.
The technical committee of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation has released the list of players invited to the camp in preparation for the competition. Head Coach-Japhet Nuhu and his assistant Sam Ajayi started their job to conduct the team in the finals.

The preparation camp started on September 24 for all the selected players.
Speaking on the African Nations cup, the national team Captain, who is the players representative on the board of the federation, Emmanuel Jatto assured fans that the team will make history by clinching one of the 2018 world cup tickets this time around.
The top 3 teams from the African Nations championship will represent Africa at the 2018 World Championship.
