In his bid to spuring them to do more, Senator Sani Saleh, sponsor of the Sani Saleh Peace and Unity Cup on Friday, presented awards to personalities who have contributed to sports development in Kaduna State.
Recipients are former Kaduna United Chairman, Honourable Sabo Babayaro, former Kaduna State FA Chairman as well as Commissioner of Sports, Honourable Shehu Adamu and Managing Director/CEO of Wadson Sports International, Chief Daniel Ogbonna (Wadson).
The awards were presented during the half time break of the match between Rigasa South and Mando Hajj Camp in the Sani Saleh Peace Cup, played at the Chawai Road Primary School, Tudun Wada, Kaduna.
The thousands of football fans who were there to enjoy the football match had earlier cheered the Senator, when he took a walk round the pitch to greet the spectators.
He was accompanied on the walk by dignitaries that were present, top among whom was the Kaduna State Commissioner of Youth, Sports and Culture, Honourable Daniel Danauta, alongside his Special Assistant on Sports and his colleague on Youth and Culture.
Also on the entourage were Honourable Sabo Babayaro, Honourable Shehu Adamu, Chief Wadson, Honourable Babami Danlami and several others.
Rigasa South escaped with victory at the end of the enterprising match with a lone goal.
They scored the goal in the first half to the delight of their fans who thronged the pitch to give them moral support.
In spite of several attempts by both teams to score in the second half, they all fired blank, as Rigasa failed to increase the talky, while Mandi could not level scores.
Action resumes on Sunday at the Ungwan Maichibi mini stadium on Sunday, where another set of teams would lock horns in an attempt to win the star prize of a brand new space bus or consolation cash prize of N1m for first runners-up or the prize of the second runner-up.
Senator Sani Saleh represented Kaduna Central at the National Assembly from 2011 to 2015.
