It took the intervention of soldiers to prevent hoodlums from looting shops as fire engulfs market in Warri.

AUTHENTIC News Daily gathered that the   fire  razed down the  Ogbe-Ijoh popular market in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State within the early hours of Wednesday November 22.

The cause of the fire could not be ascertained at the time of this report  but an eyewitness who craved anonymity stated that the fire started from a small portion of the market before spreading to other stalls.

The eyewitness blamed the cause of the fire on electrical surge.

It was learnt that soldiers deployed to the scene prevented hoodlums from looting the market until some of the traders dashed in to rescue their wares.

The Ogbe-Ijoh market harbours illegally refined petroleum products which are ferried in plastic kegs from the creeks is synonymous  with yearly fire outbreak.
