In spite of daunting challenges being faced by the Nigerian economy, the Nigerian Breweries (NB) Plc will keep engaging in corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sponsorship of sporting activities in the country.
NB Plc Brewery Manager, Kaduna, Abbey Ajayi gave the assurance while speaking at the presentation of prizes ceremony of the 2017 Heineken Golf Clinic/Tournament at the Wuyep Lakeside Golf Club, Kaduna at the weekend.
“In spite of all the economic challenges we have continued to put in our very best to steer the company to great operational excellence. Through our corporate social responsibility (CSR) platform, and also not relenting in our continuous sponsorship of the game of golf,” he said.
The Brewery Manager explained that their participation this year added a new dimension through the introduction of a coaching clinic, aimed at encouraging new golfers into enjoying the game.
He said that sports remains a strong unifying force the world over, and their sponsorship of golfing events has brought a spirit of togetherness to the game.
Ajayi praised the Nigerian military for defending the country’s sovereignty, as well as protection of life’s and property.
“As a company we have developed strong friendship and partnership with the military, you will recall that we had a similar event in this same club in December last year and recently, we sponsored another golf event in Jaji.
“Especially at this challenging period, we salute the Nigerian Air Force for training the very best in our country and Africa’s best,” he added.
He also commended the golfers who honoured their invitation to participate and making the tournament memorable.
The Manager said that being the foremost brewery in Nigeria with eight brewing locations, the company is the most capitalized on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).
