Aided by a professional player, Tega Nwaiwu of Onmax TV, Correspondent Chapel Walloped New Nigerian Newspapers 5-0 in one of the matches played at the Murtala Square Kaduna, as part of the 2017 Kaduna SWAN WEEK on Tuesday.
All the matches were scored in the second half, as the first stanza ended goalless.
With the introduction of Tega in the second half, the Correspondents took charge of the game and started scoring in quick succession.
Four goals were scored off Tega’s heels, while Theophilus Darofai of Core Tv completed the tally.
New Nigerian was however, without its three key players, who would have changed the outcome of its match.
Earlier, the star studded FRCN Chapel had walloped an all female Online Team 15-1 in a match that was dominated 90 per cent by the winners.
KSMC Chapel had a smooth sail to the semi finals as their opponents, DAAR Communications failed to show up, but later after their walk over, claimed not to be aware of the time their match was scheduled for play.
The final team that made it to the semis without kicking the ball is the New Nigerian Newspapers Chapel, who qualified as best losers, after NTA and Nagarta Radio teams failed to show up for their match.
The semifinals are billed for Thursday at the sane venue.
New Nigerian will slug it out with FRCN, while KSMC lock horns with correspondents.
It would be recalled that as a professional player, Tega wore the jerseys of Plateau United and several other Premier League teams. He also played for top clubs in several teams abroad during his active playing days.
