A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Okwagbe, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief (Hon.) Ovo Ofigo on Wednesday January 10 said that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) may not give its Presidential ticket to former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as he placed a curse on the PDP and its agents for the alleged injustice meted on him.
Chief Ofigo made the assertion in a chat with select newsmen at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Warri Correspondents’ Chapel.
Chief Ofigo stated that Atiku Abubakar made the “biggest blunder” for dumping the APC for the PDP.
Chief Ofigo who is also the National Coordinator of Buhari Solidarity Movement, (BSM) said Atiku Abubakar should have remembered former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Nuhu Ribadu who was deceived to join the party but was rubbished.
Chief Ofigo who described the PDP as a party that does not believe in the right thing said, “It is not going to be Atiku. I think it is suicidal.”
“Atiku rushed too early to make that mistake. That’s why one Kwankwaso is being careful”.
He placed a curse on the PDP saying”Never in the history of this country will PDP come to the Presidency” in 2019.
Chief Ofigo said he defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the PDP as a result of the injustice meted on him by the party (PDP) during its 2008 National Convention.
According to him, “Prior to the 2008 National Convention, PDP as usual engaged in its zoning formula.”
“Besides other issues of the National Treasurer was a major issue. The National Treasurer position was zoned to the South-South geopolitical zone.”
“The zone subsequently zoned the position to Delta State. I was the sole candidate from Delta State. I was the only person from Delta State who bought the mandatory N100,000 expression of interest form and filling all the necessary details.
“But after the convention somebody who did not partake in the national convention of the party by buying the mandatory N100,000 expression of interest form and filling all necessary details and above all who was not a PDP member was brought from nowhere to take over from me as the National Treasurer.
“It is a curse from me. And this curse will continue to hunt the party.”
Chief Ofigo also placed a curse on a former minister for dampening his spirit and meting out injustice on him by shortchanging him in a contract his company won.
Chief Ofigo claimed that the former minister subsequently gave out the contract to his cronies at a highly inflated contract sum of almost the figure quoted by his company.
Chief Ofigo claimed he also cursed a young man he had taken time to follow who also shortchanged him in a contract his company genuinely won.
“Again, I curse him for the injustice he meted on me. Again, when some of his aides started to boast that he would win the gubernatorial primaries and subsequent elections, I told them categorically that he would never win and so it was.”
