Committed to developing talents at the grassroots, patron of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), Kaduna State chapter, Engineer Musa Nimrod has vowed to not just continue sponsoring the competition organised in his honour, but to even make it bigger.
He made the vow while interacting with some journalists after the closing ceremony of the second edition of the Engineer Musa Nimrod Community Peace and Unity Soccer Competition at the Kaduna Township Stadium on Sunday night.
“We are believing God that it is going to be bigger than this next year. Being a YSFON patron, I will continue to support in any way necessary in uplifting youth in the grassroots.
“This is a duty I owe to the young ones as part of my contributions to the society,” he said.
Engineer Nimrod who is the President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), revealed that he grew up in the barracks and as a result, the Nigerian struggling spirit has been in him.
“I grew up in the barracks and the barracks set up is still in me. I recall how we developed ourselves in sports during the Nigerian Civil War, such memories make me desire to contribute to building young ones for a better Nigeria tomorrow,” he stressed .
He said that competitions like this help in keeping youth away from vices and deserve support from all Nigerians.
“If not for competition like this, they could be on street corners engaging in vices or indulging in drugs abuse. We are wasting our money in beer parlours, building houses instead of investing in these young ones. How much does it cost to do this?” Engineer Nimrod who is also the Garkuwan Matasa Arewa queried.
On the forthcoming Chief of Naval Staff Cup in Ibadan, he was optimistic that the Kaduna YSFON team who are defending champions will again, do the state proud.
