Underdogs Nasarawa United proved to be the hardest fighting team at the ongoing Glo Super Four after taming Warri Wolves 1-0 to climb top of the table in a match played at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium on Friday.
Nasarawa’s goal came in the second half courtesy of a brilliant strike from Philip Azango that caught the Wolves’ goal keeper napping.
Both teams had earlier played a barren first half in spite of beautiful attempts at each other’s goals.
Nasarawa now have four points, a point ahead of both Wolves and Akwa United as both teams are tied at the second spot with three points.
Enyimba FC of Aba tipped to win the Super Four trail behind with just one point which they got from an uninspiring draw they played after Nasarawa came from behind to equalize in a 1-1 draw played on match day 1 on Wednesday.
Hostilities resume on Sunday as Nasarawa would be hoping to consolidate their position on the table when they face Akwa United, who would also want a shot at the top of the table.
Enyimba would be playing Warri Wolves in a match many view as the star match of the first stanza of the Super Four as the curtains are drawn at the 25,000 capacity Ahmadu Bello Stadium today.
