The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna State Council at a special emergency congress has honoured her member and the immediate past Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Zonal Secretary Hajia Daharatu Ahmed Aliyu who contested for the position of the National Secretary in their just concluded election in Benin,Edo State.
At the congress which was presided over by the council’s Chairman, Comrade Adamu Yusuf, the council congratulated the candidate with a standing ovation for gallant contest which saw her emerging as the first runners up to the incumbent who defeated her with just few votes.
In his words, the council Chairman said, “we want to as a council congratulate you for a good fight in your contest for the position of the National Secretary of NAWOJ in the just concluded election which held at Benin,Edo State.
“Although, you were not successful this time around, we are optimistic that with the spirit of sportsmanship demonstrated this time around,you will certainly be victorious in your future political aspiration.
“As a council,we are proud of you and will always stand by you any day any time, well done” he said amidst cheers from members.
Responding,the honoured candidate, Hajia Aliyu appreciated the council and it’s leadership for standing by her through out the electioneering process that terminated in Edo State.
“I feel highly encouraged with the honour done to me today, it won’t have been any better even if i had won the election, I thank you very much and pray God that this show of togetherness and solidarity will continue”.
Also commending the council for the honour done to her member, the Kaduna State NAWOJ chair person, Juliet Oyoyo said, the Kaduna council has really impressed them.
High light of the congress was the donation of cash by the council to NAWOJ for celebration of the gallant contest of her member.
