Coalition of women group that staged a protest last week in Kaduna have apologized to Hajiya Hadiza el-Rufai and other prominent women, who were listed as their patrons without their consent.
The group, under the aegis of ‘International Women and Youths Revival Initiative, Kaduna State’ in a statement jointly signed by Hon. Lanti H. Waziri and Saratu Abdulaziz on its behalf,
“We wish to most sincerely apologize for the mix-up in the content of our letter to the Senate, during our lobby protest for the approval of the $350m for Kaduna State.
“By this, we are making a clarification on some important names that inadvertently appeared as “patrons” on the letterhead, notably the name of Hajiya Hadiza Elrufai, Deputy Governor’s wife, wife of Political Adviser, Hafsat Uba Sani and Zainab Bashir.
“Consequently, we hereby tender our unreserved apology for the mix-up that led to the appearance of her name and all the other important women personalities in our beloved State whose names appeared in the Guardian newspaper,” it stated.
In the statement titled ‘Apology in respect of our Kaduna women lobby protest over $350 million loan’ the stressed that those listed were never part of their lobby group.
“We wish to emphasize for the records, that Hajiya Hadiza Elrufai and all the other important women, have not been contacted and can never be part of our lobby protest.
“While we wish to categorically exonerate Hajiya Hadiza el-Rufai and all the others, we sincerely regret the inconvenience this might have caused them,” it added.
