The Catholic Bishop of Kafanchan Diocese, Dr. Danlami Joseph Bagobiri has described the Senator representing Kaduna Central, Comrade Shehu Sani as the conscience of the Nigerian Senate and Kaduna State as a whole.
The Bishop who stated this while chatting with the Senator at his official residence in Madakiya, Zango Kataf Local Givernment Area of Kaduna State on Sunday, when the Senator visited and paid homage to encourage the Bishop for being fearless and outspoken against the evil being smeared against his people.
According to Bishop Bagobiri, “We acknowledge and appreciate the way you speak against the injustices been smeared on our people in fairness and in truth. Within our Diocese anytime your comment is on social media, we are happy and thankful to you. We see a lot of hope for our Nation and our State in particular.
“I want to express my great delight at meeting you for the first and assure you of prayers, you have been doing a wonderful job. As a religious leader, we’ll do our best in ensuring our people are saved from any evil agenda.
The Bishop explained that,”Nigeria is not an ungovernable country but when you set out to rule country with fairness and justice everything falls in shape, but when you deliberately set out evil, things fall apart.
Shehu Sani on his part said,” This part of the state that has suffered a lot of bloodshed and all sorts of evil things where many lives were lost for the past three years. We are getting into another period, those of us desirous of public offices can be reached for any assistance.
“What should matter to your people should be who is going to add value to their lives. You people that are religious leaders have a moral burden and a duty to lead your people to freedom when they are in bondage. You also have a duty to show them where they should go and where they should not go,” Shehu Sani said.
He added that,” You have a duty to cast a light into their lives for them to be able to see beyond what somebody will tell them. They should see beyond that I should see that they don’t make mistake instead of moving to the part that will lead to brighter future, they will rather go back to where they are coming from.
Describing Bishop Bagobiri, the Senator said,” You are a voice and a moral conscience. My most impressive position of you is the ability to speak the truth irrespective of power, irrespective who it is. By your position, calling people in position of power to account for their responsibility has earned you respect not only within your people but outside from this circle.
“All my life I have been an activist and that could be seen from the way I conduct myself, Politicians cannot call white, white or black, black, they have other colours. They are used to deceiving people, making pledges and promises without fulfilling it they will say that it is politics.”
He reiterated his commitment, assuring the Catholic Bishop that “those qualities, component characters and tendencies that you seen, we’ll not in any circumstances betray them.”
