Army, Navy, Police Cannot Sustain Peace In Niger Delta – Uduaghan

Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan the immediate past Governor of Delta State  today said the Joint Task Force security in Delta State as well as other Security Agencies cannot continue to keep the peace in  Niger Delta region.
The immediate past Governor of State who happens to be the Delta South Senatorial Hopeful insisted that only the people in the various Communities can keep the peace.
Speaking when the President of Federated Niger Delta Ijaw Communities, (FNDIC), Chief Ogboko Bello in company of a Delta State House of Assembly Aspirant,Comrade Sheriff Mulade paid him a courtesy visit at his Warri residence, Dr. Uduaghan said his reasons why he wants to go to the senate is to handle the issues of security in the region stressing that,”There has to be a law that gives a security architecture that ensures that security is community based.
“From my experience, JTF cannot continue to keep the peace in the Niger Delta. The Army cannot. The Navy cannot. The Police cannot. The only people that can keep peace in the Niger Delta is the Community themselves.
“But to be able to do that, there has to be a law ensuring that architecture is community based.
While noting that so many laws needed to be formulated, Dr. Uduaghan majority of the contract within the region were awarded to people are not from the Niger Delta region.
“A lot of Security contracts today, you see pipeline surveillance is the one reigning now. From to time, one may come and who are those getting the pipeline contracts? They’re from outside the Niger Delta and when they get it, they’re some of these our middle men, just give them something and these middle men who get the something, they give small, small peanuts to the boys who are on ground.
“That should not happen. We must have an architecture that ensures that even those our small, small boys are legally employed. It is not at the whims of anybody. There is a structure that ensures that legally and permanently employed and can rise in that security architecture.”
Dr. Uduaghan described Chief Ogboko Bello as a man who fought selflessly for the emanxipat and freedom of his people without personal benefits.
According to Dr. Uduaghan, ” Ogboko Bello would have been one of the richest persons around here but he refused to.
“President Ogboko Bello did not look for all those kind of things. He did not want to be a middle man in all these security architecture, collecting money from people, giving peanuts and enriching himself with the other ones.”
Dr. Uduaghan also thanked Chief Ogboko Bello for role he played towards achieving the existing peace in Delta State during his adminiatration”President , thank you” just as he gave his fatherly blessings to a House of Assembly hopeful, Comrade Sheriff Mulade.
