The President & Chairman of Council, Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Mal. Mukhtar Surajo has thanked the Karina State chapter for its unflinching support towards his election during the Annual General Meeting in Umuahia, Abia State.

He expressed this, while attending this month’s Kaduna Chapter General Meeting.

Malam Surajo stated that he will forever remain grateful for the votes he got from Kaduna and other state chapters.

He said, this was the first time in the history of the state to produce the President of the Institute and it was in the interest of the chapter to do whatever it took to ensure his success.

The NIPR President added that the Kaduna-NIPR is the mother of all the Northern State chapters as it gave birth to northern chapters.

He said that there was no reason why the chapter should lag behind particularly in the north.

He stressed the need to wake up and come up with measures to reverse it for better.

Surajo called on the chapter’s new excos to set up a special ad-hoc committee to seek out about 500 members of the chapter and bring them back to active participation.

He urged members not to stop mounting pressures on him,  as it doesn’t affect him negatively and he is always spurred by it, knowing value of constructive criticism.

The chapter’s chairman, Alh. Bashir Chedi thanked the National President for finding time out of his busy schedules to attend the monthly meeting.

He said the chapter would give him maximum support and cooperation throughout his tenure, while calling on members to be forthcoming in the activities of the Institute.

Earlier in his maiden address of the newly elected executives, Bashir Chedi said his administration’s programmes would be aimed at reinvigorating of the chapter’s activities and revitalization of members through deliberate and strategic membership drive.

He also said,  the chapter will henceforth collaborate with various professional associations, government authorities, industries and corporate organizations, as well as public spirited individuals.

He stressed the importance of enhancing members capacity, professional practice and excellence, in addition to mentoring of young professionals and other chapters in the Northern parts of the country.

The new chairman also solicited for members cooperation and support for them to actively participate in the chapter’s activities as well as the national body.

He called on members to always give necessary support to the leadership of the current President of the Institute.
