The National Chairman of the Nigerian Peoples Congress ( NPC), Bar Suleiman Akasawa has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to put in place necessary mechanisms that will ensure that internally displaced person’s (IDPs) participate in the 2019 general elections.

In an interview with AUTHENTIC News Daily on Wednesday, Barrister Suleiman expressed worries that the recent inflow of IDPs in some parts of the country, most especially in the northern parts, may disenfranchise them from electing leaders of their choice.

According to the NPC chairman, INEC must begin its preparation and take necessary step’s especially logistics that will guaranty the IDPs their constitutional rights to vote.

He however appealed to security agencies to redouble their efforts towards protection of lives and property.

He also urged Nigerians irrespective of ethnic or religious differences to continue to live in peace as there cannot be any meaningful development in an atmosphere of rancour.
