There is palpable tension in Jigbale Street off Alegbo Road in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State as gunmen on Monday whisked away a fifty year old woman, Mrs. Kemi Adegboyega, wife of the Chief Executive Officer of Gboyega Motors in Effurun and her sister to an unknown destination.
The gunmen also whisked a tradomedical doctor, Mr. Robinson Ojokojo with four others away during their operation.
The gunmen numbering five stormed the area with a lady.
They allegedly shot sporadically into the air before whisking the victims away wearing mufti.
The gunmen later returned to the area, allegedly ransacked the apartments of the tradomedical doctor and carted away unspecified amount of money hours after whisking the victims away.
At the time of filing this report, the gunmen have not made entry into any Police Station within Effurun and its environs.
It is not clear if the gunmen are Police Officers or kidnappers in the state.
It was learnt that Mrs. Adegboyega in company of her sister and a friend had gone to Ojokojo’s tradomedical home when the gunmen stormed the area with inscription “SARS” in a Hilux Van and a Toyota Car.
Husband to the victim, Mr. Abayomi Adegboyega in a chat with AUTHENTIC News Daily on Tuesday evening confirmed the report.
The Chief Executive Officer of Gboyega Transport Line who narrated how the ugly incident happened, said he called the mobile phone of his wife but it had been switched off since Monday.
According to Adegboyega, “I don’t know the whereabout of my wife. For me, they have kidnapped my wife. If it is Police, you cannot lock somebody up for more than 24 hours. If it is Police, I will sue them. I don’t know whether they’re Police or kidnappers.”
Contacted, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Mustafa said, “I have received calls from two other journalists on this matter and I have asked the OC SARS to find out, he said none of his men did any such operation.
“I will also call the Area Commander, but honestly, so far, there’s nothing resembling what you described. Let the relatives of the women call me so that I can better understand what is going on.”
