Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the Gubernatorial Candidate of the Grassroots Development Party of Nigeria (GDPN), Barr. Ossai Edward Olie has said Ambition to be Governorship of Delta State is not a “Do-or-Die affair.”
Barr. Olie made the assertion as he accepted the invitation to participate in the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Delta State Council planned Debate for Governorship Candidates.
Barr. Olie who spoke through his Deputy Governorship Candidate,Mr. Amas David Amojor in a chat with AUTHENTIC News Daily in Warri said,”I will congratulate anyone who wins the governorship elections in Delta State.
“But, if I win, the losers should also congratulate me because i do not see this election as a do or die thing.
” We candidates, are brothers before we ever became governorship candidates of the different political parties. So, we should stop hate speeches, enmity, hatred and wickedness including killing each other because we want to be governor.
“I admire Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa for the sportsmanship in welcoming Mr. President to APC flag off recently. He shook hands with former governor Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan and Ogboru. This is good.
” I also admire Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru for his dogged spirit in pursuing his ambition all these years without violence. This is how it should be and we should continue like this.”
Amojor said,”I can tell you authoritatively that the Governorship Candidate of the Grassroots Development Party of Nigeria,GDPN, Barr. Ossai Edward Olie has accepted the NUJ invitation for the Governorship debate.
“The invitation will afford my principal the opportunity to market our programmes to Deltans.”
Amojor thanked the leadership of NUJ in Delta State for organizing the debate.
He said,”Any Governorship Candidate that does not honour the NUJ invitation has nothing to offer Deltans.
According to Amojor,”Deltans should be very watchful as to who they give tyeir supports or cast their votes for.”
Amojor said his Principal is very much ready to make education in a priority by making same free from primary to secondary levels if elected as governor.
He said youth unemployment and poverty would also be tackled by engaging the people in agriculture.
He added that,”Barr. Olie will also empower the women by making funds available for them to do businesses and help their families.
Amojor called on party faithfuls to continue to give their supports his principal just as he assured them of a better Delta ahead.
