Chants of ‘Atiku Kanyi Geso’ rented the air in Owerri as former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar doled out a truck load of wheel chairs to physically challenged in the city.
A statement by the SA on Youths and Support Groups to HE Atiku Abubakar GCON, Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas, made available on Sunday January 27, 2019 informed that the well attended event in Owerri, in the heartland of Eastern Nigeria, attracted thousands of Atiku supporters.
“The chant of “Atiku kanyi geso” ( WE are following Atiku) rented the air. It’s clear that the people realize and are very optimistic that you will truly get Nigeria working again,” it quoted the beneficiaries.
Abbas explained that as part of the humanitarian gesture and family impact programme, Atiku Abubakar, deployed a ten-man Support Groups team to accompany him to Owerri to distribute the truck load of wheelchairs to some physically challenged men and women.
“Thousands of people and admirers thronged the arena which soon busted into celebrations. It was a red letter day of excitement and songs.
“The Owerri event was very emotional as I cried with the ecstatic recipients who have lived all their lives crawling on the floor or dependent on others to move around and function on a daily basis.
“Today, watching these disabled folks in climatic joy more than anything else spurred my strength to work to my last breath and ensure we get this Presidency,” he said.
The statement further said that in consonance with their operational resolve and mobilization of various individuals and groups all over Nigeria to vote in Atiku Abubakar as the next President come February 2019, they have continued to galvanise and rally all who truly believe in getting Nigeria working again with Atiku Abubakar.
“The message is clear. Nigerian youths need job and security. They are fully aware that only Atiku Abubakar has the capacity and experience to create a future that heralds sustainable development.
“It’s obvious that the Buhari administration has failed woefully and embarking on blames everywhere appealing for Next level of another unacceptable accompanying hardships and sufferings.
“We love our country and cannot stand aloof while our polity disintegrate into tyranny, sufferings and hopelessness. Let’s take our country back,” it concluded.
In his magnanimity, a similar gesture was extended to Internally Displayed Persons (IDPs) in Maiduguri, Borno State.
“Our visit to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in the outskirts of Maiduguri was heart bleeding.
“We encountered the pain and massive sufferings pervading with men , women and children who have lost everything following the devastation brought upon them by the marauding evil sect; Boko Haram.
“The sadness of the people is expressed in their knowledge that the Buhari gov’t has lleft them at the mercy of fear, kidnapping and raping of women and innocent girls. Nigeria is indeed not working.” It stated.
