The Nigeria Police Force has debunked reports suggesting insecurity on Kaduna-Abuha highway, assuring that security has been beefed up along the highway.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Kaduna State Command, DSP Yakubu Sabo, made available on Wednesday January 30, 2018.

“The attention of the Kaduna State Police Command has been drawn to a Fake story been circulated on social media purportedly written by the Security and Safety Division of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) dated 2oth January, 2019 captioned “SECURITY SITUATION REPORT: KADUNA” in which the writer was advising commuters not to travel through Abuja Kaduna road within some specified periods.

“The Command is categorically stating that, the story in its entirety is a fake news, not credible, and should be disregarded and discountenanced by the public. The security of Kaduna-Abuja road has been well reviewed and enhanced on the directive of the commissioner of Police CP Ahmad Abdurrahman. Additional personnel been beefed along the road especially at all the known flash points around the axis,” it stated..

The Police said that the writer of the story ignorantly and for mischievous reasons relied on forged counterfeit letter head  which did not emanate from the agency he claimed to be working with.

“It is a crime under the penal and criminal code laws to tell falsehood with intent to mislead the public and to cause panic to the unsuspecting members of the public,” it added.

The Kaduna Police Command therefore, implored the public to be aware that the story is ill-motivated and intentionally orchestrated to cause unnecessary panic and to undermine the giant strides of the present leadership of the Command aimed at carrying out the core Police duties to protect lives and property of all the good citizens of Kaduna State, and this should be condemned by all.

“The Command will no longer tolerate or condone deliberate mischief and reckless publications aimed at defaming and derogating the integrity of the Force from any individual(s) or group(s). The full weight of the law will be aggressively applied to protect the good image of the Command.

“The Command is assuring the Media of a continuous cooperation in guaranteeing public safety and security across the State,” it concluded.
