Kaduna Electric Decries Non Payment Of Electricity Bills In Zamfara

The Business Development and Relationship Officer of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company Engineer Sabo Abdul has decried non payment of power bills by consumers in Zamfara state.

Speaking at a one day interactive session with its customers in Talata Mafara zone of the state , Engineer Abdul said the company is operating at loss because out of over 7400 clients in the zone only 1400  paid their bills.

He called the attention of the people on the fact that the electricity they are consuming is being bought by private company and that they had to sell it to generate the money from the customers.

Also speaking at the interactive session, the commercial manager of the company Ahmad Mustapha Muhammad said out of over N400m power consumed in the state , the company was able to generate only N100m.

The Emir of Talata Mafara who was represented by Alhaji Malami Abubakar Sibo,  Dangaladiman Mafara called on the company to understand their basic responsibilities, eg replacement of broken poles and transformers but not to be shifting the burden on the customers.

The meeting discussed various problems facing the company and its customers and solutions were offers to enhance effective service delivery.

Many people who contributed, identified high cost of the product, poor attitude of company’s workers and non response to the need of customers as some of the problem affecting the company
