In their bid at eliminating drug abuse and the inherent dangers that accompany it, TERWOH Sports and Skills Centre (SSC) in collaboration with Health and Happiness Foundation have taken the fight against drugs abuse through sports to youth in Kaduna. The event tagged ‘Triple Edge Sword’ was held at the Murtala Square Sports ground on Saturday, featuring four sporting events. In the football event, Unguwar Rimi Team beat hard fighting Five Winners 1-0 to emerge champions. Speaking to newsmen, Captain of Unguwar Rimi soccer team, Jubril Ibrahim said that he was happy they won. “We knew we would win because we know ourselves. We were also confident because we have quality players. “We are preparing for the next edition and we would beat every team that participated. “We thank the organisers for staging this, it is a good effort. We learnt a lot because drugs kill and you will not get yourself to the next level if you get involved in drug abuse,” he added. Speaking further, he said that those who failed to attend this edition, should endeavour to attend the next. “We urge them to participate in the next edition,” he appealed.. Also speaking, the winners of badminton event, TERWOH Team’s captain, Meshach Jackden said that winning was sweet. “It feels nice winning the event. We competed against young bloods like us, we deserved it because we have been training very hard for the event. “We were courageous and determined to win. We came from behind because they won us in the first set. “We will make sure we don’t relent in our trains ng ahead of next edition so we can win it back-to-back,” he added. TERWOH beat Unguwar Rimi 2-1 to win the event. Four teams participated in the event.
