The allegedly impeached Speaker of the Jaba Local Government Legislative Council, Hon Alhamdu Bala, has described his purported sack by some of his colleagues as handiwork of desperate group and tantamount to abuse of the privileges of parliamentary practice and procedure.
Hon Bala, who stated this in a press statement while reacting to his purported impeachment saga by the Legislative Arm of the Jaba Local Government Council, said two of his colleagues allegedly suspended with him, namely; Hon Hassan Faing representing Sab-Zuro Ward and Hon Geofrey Leo representing Dura/Bitaro as well as the Clerk of the House were at a workshop in Abuja with their counterparts from across all the 23 Local Government Areas of Kaduna State.
He said; “Some misguided elements within our midst in collaboration with the Executive Arm of the Local Government and some party leaders constituted themselves into a desperate gang of unconstitutionality to perpetrate the act, which is tantamount to abuse of Parliamentary privileges by calling a kangaroo session of the Parliament with a rented Maze from the neighboring Local Government without my Knowledge, as we were all in a sensitization workshop with the two suspended councilors in Abuja.
“Make no mistakes, the business of legislation is the constitutional prerogatives of parliamentarians not the Executive as each Arm has its roles and responsibilities clearly stipulated in the Constitution, hence we collectively resolved to uphold the rule of law and assert the independence of the parliament as well as resist any attempt to swindle or interfere with our Constitutional responsibilities,” Bala declared.
He further said; “I am calling on all sincere democrats to rally round the parliament in ensuring that, the rule of law takes precedence over Executive vendetta and recklessness in an attempt to coerced us to silence or submissions to squandered the meager resources that is meant to salvage the Local Government from long time of socioeconomic and infrastructural neglect of the past administrations.”
He assured that the Jaba Local Government Council parliament is determined to make a difference within the ambit of the Constitution.
Bala vowed never to allow few disgruntled element to siphon or cornered the commonwealth of the Local Government by few ungrateful charlatans in the name of politics.
In his words; “We shall never be intimidated by a bunch of hungry Executives who used public office as a conduit pipe for broad daylight pen robbery. I will not hesitate to take all necessary and constitutional steps to protect and assert our mandate, as well as exposed and consequently punish all those found wanting in this unfortunate act of criminality and crime against the entire people of Jaba Local Government.”
