On the 2nd of July, 2019, the Embassy of Israel in Nigeria in collaboration with Christians United for Israel (CUFI), kicked off the 2nd National Old Testament Bible Contest in Nigeria.

Embassy of Israel in Nigeria, Zanswat Bowsan said that the competition took place across the 36 states (including the FCT).
It said that over 1,900 participants registered for 1st stage which was conducted via the internet.
“The theme for this year’s contest is “unveiling the treasures of the land” and in the opening speech of the Head of Mission, H.E Ambassador Shimon Ben-Shoshan noted: “Well, I have already unveiled that the land of Nigeria is blessed and the people are blessed with many visionaries and entrepreneurs.
“Amongst them, some of the unique artists I have ever met. As you all know, the Jewish people were blessed by receiving the Bible and have studied it for centuries, day and night.
“The study of the Bible, brothers and Sisters, is the unveiled secret of our culture of innovation nowadays. This is the very essence of the State of Israel and how it succeeded in turning challenges into opportunities”. It stated.
It further said that he just concluded 2nd stage consisted of 74 top scorers who competed at 6 different locations according to their geo-political zones.
“The top 12 scorers will proceed to compete at the grand finale, which will take place in Abuja on the 27th November, 2019.
“This contest has highlighted the inherent yearning for knowledge amongst Nigerians, despite the various challenges that individuals face on a daily basis,” it noted.
The organizers hoped that the contest resonates a message of peaceful coexistence and the thrive for success.
” And that this contest will further develop the strong ties between Nigeria and Israel,” it concluded.
