A yet to be indefied passenger of a motorcycle with number plate Ebonyi UGB 028VN belonging to one Mr. Monday Nwafor,a native of Okposi Umuoghara Community in Ezza south LGA has been confirmed dead when the motorcycle was crushed by Sports Utility Vehicle Jeep at G-Hostel Junction, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital.
According to an eyes witness who gave his name as Mazi Okwudilichukwu Njoku,a driver, blamed frequent accident at the busy Junction on double road bumps sited along the Enugu-Abakaliki expressway, which was the scene of the incident with no road sign indicating such, and that had caused many drivers to struggle with their steering when they suddenly approached the bumps and in the cause of trying to control the vehicle many sumersaulted or ends up colliding with another vehicle killing innocent people.
He emphasized that the junction has become a serious threat and steady point of accident, been that the two bumps were close to each other and most of the drivers who ply the highway are not familiar with the route and had no knowledge of the bump since there was no road signs at both sides of the road, stressing that the only way to control accident at the spot would be to paint the bumps so as to save future reoccurrence of similar incident.
Corroborating the story,a motorcyclist Mr.Emmanuel Okorie told us that controlling of the regular accident at the junction would be possible if official of road traffic would come up with a bodly design sign post indicating bumps and should be placed at both sides of the highway so that drivers would know that there were bumps at the junction.
He called concerned agency to mount bodly design road signs at both sides of the road or traffic light to control the reoccurrence of accident at the spot.
