Former Special Adviser to Ondo State Governor on Political Matters and one of the leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akure South Local Government Area has charged the followers and members of the party to remain loyal and not relent on their commitment to the PDP.
Prince Tony Ala, popularly known as ECOMOG leader also allayed the fears of possible repeat of the election scenarios in Kogi and Bayelsa where the APC unleashed mayhem on the electorates of the states and members of the PDP to forcefully gain power.
Addressing members of the party during the inauguration of Eyitayo Volunteers’ Group (EVG), in Ilisa ward 5, one of the largest political wards in AKSLG,
Ala said there’s no reason to fear because the electorates in Ondo State “are for the PDP and always ready to defend their vote at all times. “What happened in Kogi and Bayelsa cannot happen in Ondo State” he said.
EVG is an internal platform of the PDP aimed to support and show solidarity for the governorship ambition of Eyitayo Jegede, SAN who was the governorship candidate of the party in the last 2016 gubernatorial election and currently one of the leading aspirants for the PDP’s gubernatorial ticket in the 2020 election.
Ala said the PDP was a party to beat in the state as it was ready to pick its governorship candidate from a free and fair party primary, adding that a scenario where party would hand pick candidate for the 2020 election would not be encouraged like it happened in Bayelsa State. He described such development an unpleasant situation and one of the failures of the PDP in Bayelsa in the November 16, governorship election.
Present at the event were: Mr. Johnson Balogun, chairman of the ward, Hon. Kunle Adeloye, House of Assembly Aspirant, Akure South Constituency 1, Hon. Tayo Abisola, PA to Hon. Adebayo Alarapo, former Chairman of Akure Local Government Council, local government excos of the ward, Ilisa ward excos and leaders in all polling units and party faithfuls across all the mini ward in Ilisa Ward 5.
