Olu Advocates New Seaport In Warri, Says He has Met Buhari

The Olu of Warri, His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwole (ll) has appealed to the Federal Government to bring back the Warri sea port and expedite action toward building a new Warri Sea port in Delta State to revive economic activities in the state.

The Paramount ruler on Thursday made the call in a speech, during the occasion of his fourth coronation anniversary in Warri South local government area of Delta State.

The Monarch, Ogiame Ikenwole, noted that, ”l have paid a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari, at the President’s office, Presidential Villa, Abuja, to solicit federal government support in resourcitate the Warri Port, building a new seaport, Ogidigben gas revolution park, Koko-Ogheye road, the Warri-Ode Itsekiri trans-highway and many more of such very impactful projects.

He  said, ”work has resumed on the Koko-Ogheye road in Warri North Local government Area, but am Appealing that the road should be dualized and pace of construction work doubled, so that Mr. President can commission it before leaving office 2023.

“We have at every opportunity called Mr. President’s attention to the Ogidigben gas project; ordinarily, this is a project that should engage Nigeria’s full priority, given the economic importance, job creating opportunities and other trickle down economic potentials it promises.

”We believe that this should be one of President Buhari’s star projects and assure you, that we will continue to plead with him for work to resume there in the shortest time possible.

“It is however, of utmost importance that I personally thank President Buhari at this juncture for recently given approval and traction to the brand new Warri deep sea port.

“We also register our profound gratitude to our son and brother Rt. Hon Rotimi Amaechi for his hard work and tenacity of purpose for bringing this project to fruition”.

The federal law maker, Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi, Member representing Warri Federal Constituency, member representing Itsekiri ethnic Nationality in the Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, Hon. Griftson Omatsuli, Member representing Warri South West Constituency, Delta State House of Assembly Hon. Dennis Emomotimi Guwor pays homage to the Niger Delta Monarch.
