The Emir of Zazzau, Dr. Shehu Idris has lauded the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM) for organising a workshop for local government officials in the 23 local government areas of the state.
He gave the commendation, while delivering a goodwill message at the Workshop on Electoral Legal Regulatory Framework For Local Councils in Zaria at the weekend.
“May I use this opportunity to convey commendation to the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM) for organising this significant workshop for the 23 local government officials across the state,” he said.
The Emir said he was delighted that the workshop will build the capacity of the local government authorities to enable them efficiently deliver the dividends of democracy to their respective constituencies and expose participants to the law that has direct impact on their duties and responsibilities.
Represented by the Sarkin Fadan Zazzau, Alhaji Abbas Ahmad Fatika, said that the choice of the workshop at this time cannot be over emphasized.
He charged the state government through KAD-SIECOM to always conduct credible elections at the local government elections to ensure credible elected leaders emerge in a free and fair manner at the local government level.
The Emir charged participants to work with KAD-SIECOM and recommend electoral framework that will improve conduct if polls particularly in Kaduna State and Nigeria.
