Gombe Governor Launches Armed Forces Emblem Appeal Fund

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has assured of his administration’s continued support to ex- service men and their families, just as he paid tribute to the fallen heroes who fought to keep nation and the world at peace.

This was contained in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant (Media and Publicity), Ismaila Uba Misilli, made available on Wednesday.

The Governor was speaking during the 2019/2020 Armed Forces Remembrance Day and Emblem Appeal Fund, organised to remember and raisee funds in support of the nation’s veterans, ahead of the January 15 celebration.

Governor Yahaya who announced a donation of 2 million Naira on behalf of the state Government and a personal contribution of 1 million Naira to the state chapter of the legion, said his administration will continue to partner with them in an effort to ensure a crime free Gombe.

Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Naomi Awak saluted the courage and sacrifice of men of the Nigerian Armed Forces for their resilience in World Wars, the Nigerian civil war, peace keeping missions and current war on Boko Haram.

Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Gombe state chapter Warrant Officer Ibrahim Madaki said on such occasion monies realized are channeled towards empowering survivors and widows of the fallen heroes.

Armed Forces Remembrance Day is being celebrated in Nigeria every 15th of January in honour of the country’s fallen heroes who paid the supreme price in service to the nation.
