*Ndume commends Army for sustaining peaceful coexistence, liberating Gwoza

The Senate Chairman Committee of Army Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has commended the Nigerian Army for sustaining peaceful coexistence particularly in Gwoza town of Borno State.
Ndume in his goodwill message at the presentation of medals to some operation Lafiya Dole troops held in Gwoza Local Governemt Area of Borno State recalled that, “Just few years ago if any one asked you to come to Gwoza, you would think that person does not like you because then, it was completely destroyed but with the help of the Nigerian Army Gwoza was rescued and with the doggedness and hard wok of our governor of Borno State who helped Gwoza from ground zero to what you see it today.”
According to him, “On behalf of Gwoza people we want to thank the Nigerian Army and we will continue to pray for you to get more medals and we will do everything possible to give that support.”
He appealed to the Managing Director of the North East Development Commission Alhaji Goni to join in helping to re-building Kirawa, Asgaciya, Ngishe, Madube and Bita settlements that the pepole of the areas are yearning to re-settle.
Also in his address to the Operation LAFIYA DOLE and Multinational Joint Task Force troops at the occasion, the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai noted that “ It is my honour to bestowed on you a well deserved operation Lafiya Dole medal for your exceptional performances in the on-going counter insurgence operation in the North East.”
“As you all know, in line with the military tradition, these award symbolizes the aspiration of government and the Nigerian Army’s appreciation for your uncommon Bravery, hardwork, discipline and selfless services as well as to give you assurance that your exceptional sacrifices in securing our country shall never be forgotten.”
He urged them to remain loyal and focus in the discharge of their assigned duties, pointing out that troops’ welfare and that of their families at the Barracks remains his top priority”.
Buratai expressed his appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari, Federal Government and National Assembly for their continues supports and strategic guidance.
Also in his good will message the Chairman House committee on army Honourable Abulrazak Namdas said, “Today’s occasion actually testified General Buratai’s vision for the Nigerian Army by having professionally and responsive army that can respond to the challenges of insurgency and all forms of contemporary security threats across Nigeria.
Among the dignitaries that attended the occasions include the special Guest of Honour the Honourable Minister of Defence ably represented by the Director Army Mr Musa Sunday Attah, the Governor of Borno State Prof Babagana Umara Zulum, the Deputy Governor f Adamawa State Chief Seth Crowther Chairman Senate Committe on Army Senator Ali Ndume, Chairman House Committee on Army Honourable Abdurazaq Namdas and Honourable Dr Asabe, his royal highness the Emir of Gwoza Alhaji Mustafa Mohammed Idris Timta, Principal Staff Officers from Army Headquarters and other top military Commanders. Hundreds of people from Gwoza township also attended the colourful army social activities where numerous local cultural organizations including Gwoza warrior dancers, tiv traditional dance group and Kanuri cultural troupe that showcased their cultural heritage and talents to the administration of the guests in attendance.
